Lewis Holmes
I graduated from the University of Hull in 2021 with a First Class in Politics and International Relations. My undergraduate dissertation focused on the 1956 Suez Crisis and the implications for Anglo-American relations and Britain’s status as a Great Power. The dissertation sought to highlight the importance of perception and misperception of capabilities in the maintenance of Great Power status in International Relations.
Working with Treatied Spaces I now hope to further develop the research and analysis skills I developed at university. My work with Treated Spaces will involve assisting the research team by collating and analysing archival material surrounding the Alaskan 1973 Native Claims Act.
From this internship, I hope to gain not just the opportunity to develop my skills further but also a greater knowledge and appreciation of Native American history and an understanding of how government policy affects indigenous communities. It is an honour to be contributing to the work of a team focusing on raising greater awareness of the issues facing indigenous communities.
Since his Internship Lewis has successfully applied for a position as Asset Performance Officer – Grade 3, Environment Agency, (FT, Permanent).
